I’ve had trouble getting the fiber I wanted for the month and I’ll be in Michigan teaching a class over normal shipping time. Therefore, July’s club will be shipping a little later than normal.
July will ship around the 28-30th of the month.
June’s club is shipping today and tomorrow!

First I opened up about 12 more spots for Octobers club. Congrats to those of you who’s time was up

Club is changing at the end of the year. Here are the details:

The good news is that December 21st the club will be opened to one and all. The bad news is that on the 20th, I’m going to close the club.

Ok, I know that’s confusing.

With all the price increases lately I’ve had to make a decision. We’ve kept the club really low priced for 3 years but I have to change it with the new prices I’m being charged from my suppliers. Not to mention USPS is now raising it’s rates every May. I had to decide if I was going to decrease the weights/yardages of each sub or if I was going to up the rates. Less fiber and yarn seems crazy because less than 4 ounces makes me want to cry unless it’s a luxury.

Here’s what will happen.
All the paypal Subs will be canceled at midnight on December 20th. On December 21st, the new club will open at the new rates and it will be open for one month. This will give all the old club members time to sign up and any one new can jump in too. If you have your club charged directly through me, you will not have to re-enter your information, you will just need to email me and tell me that you still want your subscription. Without an email, I will assume that you wanted out.

You want the new monthly rates that will begin in December?

US:
Single Fiber $18
Double Fiber $34
Triple Fiber $48
Yarn $30
Single fiber plus yarn $43
Double fiber plus yarn $60

International (this includes Canada):
Single Fiber $21
Double Fiber $37
Triple Fiber $52
Yarn $33
Single fiber plus yarn $47
Double fiber plus yarn $65

The club will remain open to everyone that wants to wants to sign up for one month. So December 21 to January 20th anyone can sign up. Then on January 21st it will close again. I’ll be putting in notes in all the packages that go out in November to remind everyone of this change. I know there are a few people that don’t read Ravelry or the club blog.

My friend just had a baby girl who she named Veronica Rose. Veronica was born to term but was very underweight and had to spend the first two weeks of her life in a hospital. This is no way for a baby to enter the world so I figured I’d knit her something to keep her warm until her baby fat had a chance to develop. I dug through my fiber stash and found Rosebud. I thought it was kismet so I spun a nice woolen 2ply bulky single to knit the trim on a sweater for the new baby. But first I ran the roving through my carder with some Angelina fiber in white gold so that the new baby could sparkle.

I spun my Rose Garden as a worsted single… my first attempt at trying to create something like Manos del Uruguay or Malabrigo - my favorite yarns to knit with. I spun it very loosely, but even then it was coiling up on itself after I took it off the niddy-noddy. I knew it would relax a bit as I set the twist so I put it in some hot water, let it cool overnight and hoped for the best. The next day I squeezed out most of the water, swung it around in wide circles outside to get any more excess out, and hung it to dry in the sun. (You can read more details on my blog…

http://theknittingmama.blogspot.com.)

Oh, it’s pretty… Oh, it’s soft… Oh, it’s so lovely… I could just barely wait for it to dry before I flung it on my swift, wound it into a ball and put it on the needles.

I am finally getting the Navajo plying thing down. For the most part. ;p

Here’s my May 2008 fiber, Rosebud; sure, it’s a bit overtwisted… but it’s the first attempt of mine at Navajo plying that hasn’t looked like a Rat King. So I’m proud, even though it’s not perfect! I only got about 114 yards… but again, even though it’s not a 1200-yard perfectly spun laceweight, I love it. Maybe I’ll make a hat out of it. Or maybe I’ll just continue to proudly show it off, like a new mother!

Thanks,
