Snow Squall and company

My creation

I’ve spun up my “Snow Squall” with Electric Sheep Fiber “London Fog”. I thought they would go well together.

 It’s 270 yds, 2-ply, 12 WPI.

I liked spinning the Icelandic wool, but besides some outer wear, I don’t think I would want it close to my skin. I liked this colorway, and am now thinking, what to do with this skein.

Best,
Monika

my first installment

I finally managed to take a picture of my Snow Squall. I really enjoyed spinning it and I’m happy I got the double dose. I’m still a fairly new spinner so it’s not perfect but I like it anyway. I wonder what it wants to be …

Party Dress and Snow Squall

I liked someone else’s idea of spinning the Party Dress colors into three separate singles and then doing 3-ply… It was the first time I had tried 3-ply and I didn’t draft the roving a whole lot so it turned out pretty chunky. The colors are also totally not what I would have picked out, but that is exactly the reason I joined this club… to get some variety. :) Party Dress

I absolutely loved the colors of Snow Squall. When I think of snow though, I think of how it makes everything sparkle… I divided the roving in half and decided to draft the Icelandic wool in small sections across my legs and then lay some silvery metallic stuff I had picked up at NW Handspun over that in random places.

The first single was absolutely gorgeous, but a bit more flashy than I was going for… So I spun the 2nd single without the glitter and plied them together. The result was 301 yds of beauty:Snow Squall

I LOVE THIS YARN! I have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but I think it’s the best skein I’ve spun yet!

Snow Squall

Man oh man did I love this fiber.  Its my first month in the club and already I’m wishing I had signed up for the double dose.  When I first opened the package, the fiber looked kind of scratchy, but looks can be deceiving - it was quite lovely.  I spun it loosely and plyed it loosely (2 ply) and I love how it came out.

I’m not sure how I’m going to use it, but I’m thinking of one of those faux fair-isle patterns where you let the natural color changes in the yarn do most of the work.

Can’t wait for this months selection!  And if anyone has any extra of the snow squall, I’d love to get more.

February Club

Just a quick post to those waiting for club. Normally shipping starts right after the 20th. I’ve been away at a Fiber Show. I have extra help coming in to help me prepare club this month but it still won’t start shipping until the 28th. Sorry for the wait but it couldn’t be avoided this month. This same thing will happen in May when I go to Cummington. These fiber shows just fall on the shipping weekend but I’ll do my best to get things out soon after them.

Party Dress-Spunky Club Fiber December

I just finished spinning some lace weight yarn. I wanted to try spinning thicker this time. I knew I wanted to navajo ply this, so I thought this would be bulky yarn for sure. As it turns out, it’s worsted weight yarn!

117yds - navajo plyed - 12 WPI

Don’t know what this will be, maybe my daughter likes it, and would like to knit something  with it. I have to send her a picture of the yarn.

I’m off to do some more spinning.

Have a nice day,
Monika
