I spun my Rose Garden as a worsted single… my first attempt at trying to create something like Manos del Uruguay or Malabrigo - my favorite yarns to knit with. I spun it very loosely, but even then it was coiling up on itself after I took it off the niddy-noddy. I knew it would relax a bit as I set the twist so I put it in some hot water, let it cool overnight and hoped for the best. The next day I squeezed out most of the water, swung it around in wide circles outside to get any more excess out, and hung it to dry in the sun. (You can read more details on my blog…

Oh, it’s pretty… Oh, it’s soft… Oh, it’s so lovely… I could just barely wait for it to dry before I flung it on my swift, wound it into a ball and put it on the needles.

I am finally getting the Navajo plying thing down. For the most part. ;p

Here’s my May 2008 fiber, Rosebud; sure, it’s a bit overtwisted… but it’s the first attempt of mine at Navajo plying that hasn’t looked like a Rat King. So I’m proud, even though it’s not perfect! I only got about 114 yards… but again, even though it’s not a 1200-yard perfectly spun laceweight, I love it. Maybe I’ll make a hat out of it. Or maybe I’ll just continue to proudly show it off, like a new mother!
