Jack style Looms
This type of loom is the type of loom used for table looms and small folding looms as well as some of the larger looms Four shaft jack looms are also easy for beginners to use unless they have problems getting a good shed. They are simple to set up and easy to operate.

In a Jack loom the shafts work independently and are moved by "jacks" which are either above the shafts or below the shafts. The shafts are a few inches below the path of threads going straight from the front to the back. The shafts are heavy to resist the tension on the warp threads.

Advantages: Easy to set up and they usually are less expensive than other types (so long as you compare oranges to oranges)

Disadvantages: the shafts are heavy therefore to move them takes a bit more work. it is a little noisy as the shafts are wooshed up and down into their places - though I find the noise comforting.
