I don’t know how else to describe this past weekend. All the love, the confessions of stalking, the laughter. Oh my, the laughter. The return trips - yes, you - you know who you are. You guys cracked me up all weekend. Thank you! It wouldn’t have been half as entertaining without you guys.
I could link all the people I talked to and all the people I saw but I would undoubtedly forget someone because my memory is that bad or I would give a wrong link and well, I really did see so many that the rest of this post would be all links. You know who you are and you are all fantastic.
Even though I worked the whole weekend it was still good. Although after seeing all the happy yarns and the people getting to spin, I felt a wthdrawal and when I got home I didn’t unpack the truck. I sat at my wheel for a few hours and spun up 8 ounces for my big project. I know I say this every year but I think I mean it this year, NEXT YEAR I’M GETTING A ROOM! I imagine it will be crazy but I really want to stay over. Besides, I can handle crazy.
So now your wondering if I had to stay in the booth the whole time or if I got to do any shopping…..
Of course I had to come home with stuff.
I got this bit of fluff from Friends Folly Farm.
Ok, so maybe it’s more than a bit. Maybe it’s more like 1.5 lbs for a sweater. It’s Wool, mohair and Alpaca. Your eyes didn’t glaze over with beauty. The picture is fuzzy. It showed the colors way better than the clear one.
This was the first thing I got, at about 4 on Friday afternoon (before the vendors opened). I knew if I didnt’ attack Indigo Moon as soon as I could, I wouldn’t have gotten this batt:
I still haven’t spun the one I got at Maryland, but I have done the first one I ever got from SPA#2 (this year was SPA#5). I think this one is moving up and I’m going to spin it after I get the project done that I’m working on.
I’m taking the rest of the day off. I’m dead tired and the girls are needing some attention. I already had to make pancakes this morning and I’m sure they have several games or some coloring I need to do. Right now I need to be sitting on the floor watching some Dora and if I don’t move it, I’ll be in trouble.

I bought some of your Kites roving. Oh.my.gosh, love it. I keep fondling it everytime I walk by it. *heh*
I so wanted to pick your brain about the drop spindles but you were SO busy which is great! =) Like a huge dork I almost spewed,”Ohmigawd I read your blog!” But I was good and managed to not look too stalker-ish as I was buying my stuff.
Your stall?spot? whatever was great and jam packed with awesome stuff! I wish I had been able to stick around longer.
Anyway, it was great to “meet” you even though I didn’t say a word LOL and you did an awesome job. =)

Amy Boogie… I cannot thank you and your mom enough for being so awesome on Saturday. I jokingly wrote in my blog that I’m surprised y’all didn’t call the cops since I must have gone over there about 4 times!

OK, yes, I was a returnee - I just drank my coffee out of my awesome green commuter mug, grabbed my phone out of that really cute Asian kitty bag and I learned what I wanted to - Andean Plying - with the Tom Foolery Spindle that I bought from you - using what I think is my new favorite colorway - Vineyard! I’ll be honest, the only money I spent (and you know how much it was!) was at your booth - I am a Spunky Eclectic addict!

It all was pretty overwhelming…especially for a newbie like myself! But, I made it home with some very Spunky fibers and a drop spindle that even I can make spin so I think it was a good kind of overwhelming. I’ve been at the wheel and spinning like a maniac so I can get through the stuff I was working on and and start on your merino/silk. Soooooooo pretty!

Ooh, that spindle makes my heart skip a beat. I’ll actually be coming out for the maine fiber festival, but I bet those spindles will sell so fast I won’t have a chance at one. Such, I guess, is life.

I am so jealous - I love that post show feeling. The happiness and fibery goodness and pleasant exhaustion. I just like to touch the stash and feel the memories. I didn’t unpack for a week. I just hauled everything in and set it in the middle of the floor.

I don’t spin. There, I said it. That’s not to say that I haven’t been sorely tempted (make that persuaded) by friends who do. But I keep resisting - I don’t have the time or room to amass the equipment and loads of fiber I know I’d end up with.
But this weekend, revisiting your booth over and over, and watching my Spunky Junky pals (Kellee, Elisa, Jackie and Jess, among others) so thoroughly enjoy your fiber - well, I’m closer than I’ve ever been. I even busted out my dusty old spindle!
Oh, and here is a post from way back in September ‘04 where I posted a picture of the needle roll you made for me months earlier. Back when Mike was still a baby.

Oh my that spindle is absolutely gorgeous! It is almost to pretty to use, it’d make a gorgeous display. Nah, tools are for use not just display, I guess it can be both.
