It comes and it goes.
Once Brown was gone, my knit mojo came back with a vengence. This doesn’t bode well since brown is back. Like a boomerang. I don’t think brown spent a full 24 hours in her new home. It’s ok though. She’s back with more complete instructions. Instructions help when it’s not a self design for oneself.
While I had brown I didn’t complete much other than Brown. I sat and stared at brown a lot. Or stared at my other projects and wished brown was done. Not very productive. Brown is a knit that I could have done in a week. Knitting with chunky yarn for skinny ass models is easy. Or you’d think it would be easy. It’s sad that it took me 4 weeks to complete.
While brown was gone (from Saturday until yesterday) I completed the sleeves to the next sweater:

And I got lots done on the second Pulsations lace sock.

Yes, I had cast on the second sock. I was worried I’d have second sock syndrome so I cast on. I suppose I shouldn’t have worried. I’m really feeling the lace right now. So much so that I also cast on another sock.

This sock I actually cast on several times. I thought I wanted a textural pattern. Something I can bring to Knit at Night. The lace kept drawing me back. I’m doing the Gulls Wings pattern from Socks Socks Socks. Which is an easy pattern to rip and pick up when you get to gabbing and forget where you are in the pattern. The yarn is my SuperNova yarn in a new colorway, “How very Berry”.
I finished my club yarn for April and I made mittens.

They don’t look like mittens?
I see mittens.
Ok, I had every intention of making them into mittens for the Boogie Baby. There are a few over at the club blog that make the yarn and then knit with yarn before the next club arrives that I wanted to do it too. What’s really sad is that I have the fiber 1-2 months before anyone else has it and I still hadn’t found the time to make it into anything.
The yarn sat next to my chair for a long time. I kept looking at it. I could see mittens. The yarn fits so well on the baby. I can see the mittens there. Still, somehow, they never materialized into actual mittens. I think sleep is beginning to cut into my knitting time.

Have you gotten the spam about the miracle weight loss that you can achieve by eating Hunza bread? I make no such claims. I was interested in this bread because it’s wheat free. I make a good wheat free bread. That’s all I’m claiming here.
My Recipe:
1.5 cups Buckwheat flour
.25 cup Soy protein flour
3 tsp Baking Powder
2 tbs Honey
1 tbs Barley Malt or Molasses
1 pinch each of nutmeg, cinnamon, sea salt
2Tbs Olive oil
.25 cups of water (or more as necessary)
Optional
Chopped nuts and dried fruit.
Basically you just blend all the ingredients together. I meant to measure out the water for you but I forgot. I have a tendency to just put all the ingredients in without measuring. Spread the mix out about .5 inches thick on a greased (sprayed lightly with olive oil) cookie sheet. I bake it for about 20 minutes at 350F. The bread is chewy. If you’ve ever cooked with buckwheat, you know you don’t get that light fluffy texture that you get with wheat. Today I took half the bread out and left the other half in the warm oven (oven is now off). I want to see how it will dry out. It would be an interesting alternative to granola bars.
Today’s bread had no dried fruit or nuts in it, although it’s really good that way. I wanted to make breakfast pizza.

I made the bread then I spread with my tofu “cream cheese” and topped with fresh fruit. This is one of my favorite breakfasts. And since the bread is really filling, you don’t need to eat a lot to feel full.
I spent most of the weekend working. Still I was able to finish up my green socks.

Pattern: Pulsations (coming soon)
Yarn: Spunky Super Nova
Color: Pulse
Needle: US2
I did a big no-no. I finished one sock and didn’t immediately cast on for number 2. It’s anyone’s guess when number 2 will actually get finished.
I’ve been catching myself sitting inside my head staring out into space. I had been doing this alot. Until the day I caught myself and mentioned something to husbeast. I don’t think he thinks much that I do is weird so I’m not sure he noticed me sitting on the couch, kids in bed, hands idle….
I explained: Brown needs to be finished soon but I passed any joy of working on it. The yarn has so many knots in it, I was just unhappy with it. I need to finish it this week though. Still I was blocked because I really wanted to knit socks or spin.
His answer: So knit something else.
I said: But I really need to finish Brown.
He said matter of factly: So just finish brown.
I sat there in space for a few more minutes and then I almost finished brown. All thats left is the neck and weaving in the multitude of ends from the knotty yarn (acrylic doesn’t spit splice).

I’ve been doing an inch on the neck a day. At this rate, I won’t meet my deadline. I’m going to do my best to finish her up today. Steam block and have her out tomorrow.
I did do some work on another knit. Mostly from having to leave the house and sit places bored where I can’t bring the sweater.

It’s not an impressive amount of work, but there you have it.
Tonight is roller skating with the girl scouts. I think they’re going to try and get me out skating. If I manage to keep my butt planted in a corner, I’ll be knitting.
