Before I left for the Fiber show, I had ordered yarn. I know. Silly but I had to have it. I missed a certain yarn the last time at Woolgirl so I just had to get it when I saw it there again. Isn’t this packaging cool?

Boogie Baby was all interested in it. She watched as I undid each package and laid out the yarn. The second they were all there, the thief in her came out.

Anyone that has spent some downtime with the lady knows how nuts she is for yarn and fiber. She’s very interested in what you have for yarns and fibers and she has to touch all of it. So when there was new stuff, she took off with it. I got it back when she took a nap so I could take a picture of the yarn that made me place the order:

Kitty’s Eyes by Joni of Union Center Knits. I loved this colorway in the online photo but once I got it, I could really see the little bit of peachy color (kitty nose!) and I love it more. I want to cast on but I have more commissions to do.. I’m trying to be good because the deadline on these is really short… I will be good and NOT cast on kitty socks….. I will be good….. I willlllllll…..I can do it.
I couldn’t live with just that little bit of yarn. I had to have more. More Union Center that is.
You don’t need to remind me that I make yarns for a living. I just couldn’t help myself. You know, that feeling that you cannot possibly control your fingers. Your fingers start slamming away at the keyboard and 3-4 days later you mystically have yarn on your doorstep. It’s like I go into a trance. Pretty pretty and I have to have it.
I also have more yarn that I didn’t buy. This is yarn for one of those commission projects. I was so thrilled when I opened the box yesterday. It’s actually a good color!!!! For once they didn’t send me brown or blue! This is cause for great excitement.

That’s right, it’s diaper green, I love it! Let’s hope this makes it speedy knitting.
I didn’t bring my camera with me to Cummington Sheep and Woolcraft Festival. It was probably a good thing, though. I would have spent all my time taking photos. So many of you that I knew and so many that I knew in name only. I love seeing all of you that I know and it was great meeting those that I didn’t know. And it was great to hear that so many more are going to come visit me at Fiber Frolic. Did I mention that I have a double space at the Frolic and there will be a whole bunch of wheels set up. At least one of each of the companies I carry. And I will have some yarn from Hello Yarn if she remembers to send it up.
I honestly don’t know how to put a fiber festival into words. Even if people didn’t buy, it’s so great to have people come up and chat about spinning and yarn and fibers. It’s incredible. I spend most of the time around the house and shop. I still talk about yarn and fiber but I think everyone else is getting tired of it. You that come to the shows, you listen and you talk about fibers and yarns too. It’s nice. So don’t think you have to shop if you are coming by my booth, but you do need to talk about fibers and yarns to me, or listen to me blather on.
I can’t possibly walk away from a fiber show without having fallen into purchasing something. This show, the big purchase was the fleece from Foxhill farm. Adrian told me about them and she was so so so right. The fleeces are fan-freakin-tastic.

This is a piece from Rye (white Cormo) and Ester (grey Cormo Romney). I love love love these fleeces. This really is the time when you need feel-o-vision. I’m working on it, but it’s just not right yet. I can’t wait to get working on these. I’m going to make a few really nice blends fro the shop. And of course I will have to keep some for myself.
The other big buy was new spindles for the shop.

This is the one that I brought home for myself to learn to work with it. I bought 10 more shop. They are a really interesting spindle and I just love the idea. I have to know how to spin with everything so I just had to bring these into the shop. I’ll be unpacking the load tomorrow when I work in the shop so I’ll take a picture of all the ones that I got.
There really is so much else I would love to talk about but I haven’t the time. I need to get some shipping done today and then I have an afternoon appointment. There will be more later. I hope you all had a great sunny weekend too. I’m way way way behind on reading blogs. If I told you all I had to do between now and June 20 you’d know I was insane and you’d understand. I hope to catch up soon.
I finished spinning the Merino Tencel. I started to knit a head scarf with it too.

I’m ripping it out.
I knew this would come back and bite me in the butt. I sat down to spin the Merino tencel in a 2 ply fingering weight. Then after a few minutes I decided I wanted to do it as singles. I got interupted. I sat back down spinning a 2ply fingering weight. Woops, we’re doing a fingering single, right. And so it went over a 2 day span of spinning. I haven’t had enough uninterupted spinning nor available memory it seems. Thus I have a thick and thin Merino Tencel single.
I’m so in love with the feel of it, the color, and the shine that I didn’t care. I was going to make a Gina headscarf and the uneven size be damned. Go ahead and click on Headscarf - you’ll see what it’s supposed to look like. Then you can click on my picture above and see what lack of timem memory and indecision will do for you.
That’s right. Squat. It does nothing to help you make a pretty head scarf.
After the show this weekend I’ll try to come up with something that won’t look hideous with this yarn. Or maybe I’ll set it aside and make Gina’s scarf in the yarn it’s supposed to be made in. And this is where I’m leaving you until Tuesday of next week. Today I’ve been stricken with hat feels like the stomache flu. I’m hoping it’s gone or the 4.5 hour drive to cummington will not be a fun one.
If you’re in Western Massachusetts this weekend, stop by the show and say hi to Husbeast and I. Hopefully we’ll have a well stocked and happy booth of color. And hopefully I’ll be standing upright instead of napping under a table.
Today is Boogie Mom’s Birthday!
I’m posting late because I had to go give her the gift before I posted about it.

Branching out from Knitty
Spunky Eclectic Alpaca yarn - 1 skein
Colorway - Heathers - Teal
And instead of blathering on, I’m heading back to working on printing out shipping labels for club. There are now over 200 of you! Wow. I really need to get back to work.
Need I say more?
I just got this stuff in and immediately dyed a bunch in a new colorway to test it out.

I meant to work with it yesterday but I was having a hard time deciding which wheel to use. Normally I defer to the wheel without a project but they all have something going. No, it’s not a sign I need to finish something and stop starting so many projects at once. It’s a sign that I need another wheel.
But I didn’t stop with the fiber. I also dyed a hank of the yarn:

The next chance I get I’ll be casting on for the Dublin Bay socks.
I’ll be feverishly working to get more of the Merino Tencel products dyed and ready to bring with me to MA Sheep and Wool. BTW my truck space will be limited as far as equipment goes. Optimum space is being given to copious amounts of fiber abnd yarn. I’m not sure what wheels I’ll be bringing with me other than a Victoria (that little thing will fit anywhere). If you’re going and you want me to bring something specific, let me know.
