What kid doesn’t like Munchkins. You know, those doughnut holes covered in sugar that you can get at Dunkin Donuts. They’re a real treat but so full of fat and sugar. If you stack my munchkins up along side a real munckin doughnut hole, they aren’t going to win. These are a good alternative though. As an added plus, these are good for those on the raw food diet.

1 large Banana mashed
1/2 cup of organic Peanut Butter
1/2 cup of flax seed (ground)

Mix it all together. Refridgerate for about an hour, any longer and it dries out. If it does dry out you can add some water. Make teaspoon sized balls of the mixture

Roll the mixture in something (or not)
Rollit in finely chopped dried fruit, chocolate chips (sugar free of course), coconut shavings, nuts, etc etc. Think of what the real munchkins are rolled in and come up with the healthy alternative for it. If your balls are dry and there isn’t much sticking to it, you can dunk them in a mixture of raw honey and water to moisten. A honey glaze would be really good all by itself.

KNITTING
I finished the knitting portion of the baby’s sweater:

Now to block it and find buttons…

My niece and nephew that I haven’t seen in years just showed up. So I’m going to go play and I’ll tell you about the next project later.

I know what you’re thinking. What enhancing do I need? And I know some of you are giggling. It’s ok. I can take it.

I have a lot of nice yarn and not too much yarn that doesn’t get felty if it mistakenly gets tossed in the wash. Superwash just doesn’t cut it in the HOT wash and HOT dry. It’s ok for socks, they seem to bounce back. But when you do a sweater, it seems to make it mis-shaped just enough to not fit kids growing at the speed of light. For some reason I really want to knit little kid sweaters. Projects for me and anyone else have been cast aside. I want to knit for kids.

I found this Ella Rae Amity stuff in red and blue colorways:

It’s strange. I have a hard time picking out variegated colors from someone else. Particularly from a company that ALL the variegateds colors are so strictly done. From ball to ball they’re likely to be just the same. Weird. Still, I was able to be relatively satisfied with these 2 colors.

I picked up a bunch of Sirdar Denim Tweed DK too. Some of it is already being used on a sweater. I have another bunch to make a striped sweater:

While we’re talking about stripes… I figured I’d chance another Cascade 220 superwash sweater:

The only new color is the blue, I had the brown in my stash already.

But while I was out with the Boogie Baby I had to get one more bunch for a sweater. She had on a really cute dress and it looked so good on her. I had to get the colors so I can design a fair isle.

I’m going to also do a test with the Superwash DK I’m carrying.

I want to see what it will withstand. I’ve made socks with it and cold washed, I just haven’t washed it in HOT yet. I’ll report back on what I find.

I hesitated to call of this stash enhancing because I have plans to make all these sweaters. Well, I bought 2 sweaters worth at a time…3 times. After the first time I almost put it all in “projects”. But with as many as I have now, I think I’m stuck putting it into stash. Hopefully I’ll be getting to it all soon. With fast growing kids, I don’t have too much of a leeway in the amounts. I did get extra but not too much extra. I need to get it all done within one year or run the risk of needing to find more yarn. I’m working down the body of the first sweater, it’s about time to pick out the next one.

I love my Grammy. Grammy is awesome. Those of you that have met her know how cool she is. Others of you might get an understanding of how neat Gram is by reading here. Especially if you’ve been reading a while, you have read some stories. I told some of you the reaction Gram had when I got my last tattoo (the one that honored my girls). Gram loved the tattoo and talked about how it was way better than getting jewelry to honor their births. I’d always have the tattoo and the story of it with me. The girls will always be able to see a reminder of them on me.

Sweet, I know. It was good to see that she “got it”. At 93, you never know what the reaction is especially since her generation of women didn’t do this. Her reaction almost made me cry it was so perfect.

Now, for those that don’t know, my whole family is getting honored on my arms. I figured with a response like that, Gram had to be next. She was the one that taught me to knit and crochet. Since Gram’s strokes, crocheting is the main thing she is able to do in her leisure time. And boy does she ever turn out afghans! I couldn’t think of any way better to honor Gram than to have her name on a crochet hook.

But there is more to it than that. This tattoo has been in the works for well over a month so I’d have all the pieces to take in to Jennifer. I asked Gram to make me the little granny square (Granny squares are my favorite but it’s also fitting since it’s a Granny square). She had given me the needles at one point last year. They are the needles that her dad made for her when she was a little girl.

The hook was the one thing I didn’t have until just this past Monday (One day before I was getting tatooed). I was sitting with Gram and noticed she was working with a different hook than normal. I always saw her working with this gold colored hook so the new green one really stood out. When I asked about the change, Gram’s reply was the hook had worn down too much and it was no longer good to crochet with. I asked to have it and my set was complete.

Yes, the ball of yarn changed color. I wanted to work in with the rest of the tattoos forthcoming so I changed it. I’m thrilled with it. I’ll have to take a picture once the redness and swelling go down, and have another person do it. The only one up right now is me myself and I so it’s not easy taking a photo of your inner right arm.
