February del 2008 - <title>Boogie Knits Boogie Knits

This is really really good and an easy meal for one or however many people you have.

1 Zucchini per person - grate it the long ways through a Mandolin cheese grater. You are grating long strips that are spaghetti like. If you leave your produce in the fridge, you may want to set this out to get room temperature. It’s not bad cold but room temp it seems to have more flavor.
2 good plops of a good Pesto (see below)
a handful of chopped reconstituted sun dried tomatoes.

Pesto:
1 large handful of fresh Basil
Lots of minced or crushed garlic
A good swish of olive oil
a bit of salt and pepper
1/4 cup of Pine nuts or I’ve heard Brazil nuts are good too.
Using the S blade and the food processor - process until it’s smooth.

Knitting:
Mostly I’ve been working on a deadline project:

But I’ve also been playing with the scarf here and there:
ascarf!
I’ve been working on this a while and I couldn’t find where I got the pattern from. I know it was free and on a blog. It was one of those blog journeys that you started at a friend’s blog and traveled 5 or so blogs away and found the pattern.
CO 29. Row 1 and every row there after: S1, *K1, K2tog, YO, P1. Repeat from the * to the end. Basically you cast on a multipple of 4 sts plus 1. You’re good to go.

It’s really sweet that Dianna, Arleta and Abby all said I made their day. You guys rock and I absolutely want to let you know that you guys make my day. I feel like I can’t finish this meme though. I enjoy all the blogs that are on my blog list. They wouldn’t be there otherwise. I love to read your posts when I get a chance. I’m not trying to “cop out” on this meme but I’ve been trying to figure out for the past 3 days which ones do I pick and really, I just can’t. You all are awesome. Thank you all for being you and allowing me (and everyone else) to take a peak into your life.

Do you know what else makes my day?
Waking up to snow:

This was the first one I took. It’s of the trees in my front yard. I love how the street lights added all that funky color. I know I should have spent the time to get out the tripod but I was impatient and cold.

Then I went to the back of the house and snapped these:

I love sticky snow, it looks so cool:

It may not be the best to shovel but until the part when you need to shovel the walkways, it’s some pretty stuff.

Anyone else got one? Thankfully it started earlier than usual but I still was tired when the 4th quarter started. The game was good so I lasted through it. I knit up until I got tired and then the end was so excited that I coudln’t knit. Congrats to all you Giants fans!

And now for the recipe…. I have nothing for you. Last week I ate mostly raw. I wanted to see what the hype was about and if I could actually pull it off. Thinking about eating raw it seems like it would be difficult but when it came right down to it, it was easy. Easy to stick to as well. I don’t plan to eat Raw all the time but I’d like to add a few of those dishes into my diet here and there.

I have a bunch of seeds, nuts, and dried fruit. I’m going to work on a raw food style cereal. I have a serious love for all things cereal so this should be interesting. As soon as I get a good combo, I’ll let you know.

I know you really came here for knitting or spinning.
What did I knit on until I couldn’t take it anymore?

It’s a scarf done in my Rustic Silk. I wanted to have a good sample to show people what this stuff is like. It’s not the prettiest or softest in the skein but it’s so gorgeous when it’s knit up. I’ll have the pattern available for free at SPA.

And now I’m late for work so I can’t continue to babble on.

I don’t actually get to work on crochet much since I usually have a ton of other projects going. Lately those projects have been giving me no love and making me feel scattered. I’ve turned to crochet to give me something different to do. I have a long suffering project from Happy Hooker. It’s the project “Short and Sweet”.

Unfortunately I think I’ll need to frog it. The way the sizing is, I fit somewhere in between. I can’t really fake it because the motifs are huge. I’m going to frog this and find a different yarn with a different gauge so I can make the top fit better.

With that project out, I picked up all my crochet books and finally my IK Crochet from this past fall. I found just the project that I needed to do. The Mesh Peplum Cardi Blouse. I went to the stash for the right yarn. I think what I like about crochet the most is that I’m happy using cotton in crochet where I’m not in knitting. I can have a good spring cardi if I crochet it in cotton.

I didn’t let the Peplum bother me on this sweater. I guarantee it won’t have one unless I miraculously become a stick like the model. Right, so this sweater will have no peplum. I think crochet is even easier to modify than knitting. But not doing a peplum is really easy, I just keep crocheting straight. Right now I’m only through 1/3rd of the collar. My hands started to hurt with the hook I was using. I used this as an excuse to get some nice hand made ones from Etsy.

The hooks came in and as a test, I crocheted a little square the other night for Elisa’s Dad.

You can see one of the new hooks too. They really do help keep me from having hand aches. I plan to buy more. If any of you crocheters out there have another good source for hooks, let me know.
