The sleeves are done.

Love my messy kitchen table. It’s the place where we do so much. One of these days it will be clean. And I don’t mean for just 15 minutes. I have a feeling once the girls are all grown, it has a chance to be clean for days at a time. maybe.

You can see how I hold my yarn. Someone (maybe me) forgot to rinse this yarn. I was excited to use it ok? and it’s coming off a bit on me. I’ll just have to make sure to rinse it well when it’s done. For now I’ll deal with the little bit of blue on my hands. I love how this is working up so far.
Yeah.
um.
well.
You see.
I started a new sweater. I felt that the ones I started wouldn’t be warm enough for Rhinebeck (watch it be a really hot weekend) so I decided to start another sweater. Girl Friday fits that bill. I’m doing her in Spunky Eclectic Classic 220 Handpaint. I started her Tuesday and finished a sleeve this morning.

And I might have had more done if I hadn’t decided I needed to start a new shawl too….

The pattern is available on Ravelry as Aestlight. The yarn is a 2 ply handspun from tweedy Abby Batts. I think these are the first Abby Batts I had ever had. Finally I’m using the yarn for something very worthy and something for me.
Really I want the sweater for Rhinebeck. I just wanted the shawl as an easy take a long project since I’m bored with my other easy take a long projects. I need to rotate those things.
Let’s get this bit out of the way…..I am choosing to ignore that I’ve ignored this blog the past few weeks
I’m jumping right into what’s going on NOW. With pictures even….
The Naughty Rhinebeck sweater is in the Naughty corner….

It kept falling off my 40 inch circular which made me think….hmmmmm….maybe this isn’t the right size. maybe since I wanted to knit a 38 inch sweater and this is having a hard time with the 40 inch needles….maybe, just maybe, it’s the wrong size. It took me 10 inches of knitting to get this. I was obviously smoking crack when I cast on 8 inches worth of stitches more than I needed. 8 inches. yes. 8 inches too big. frog.
Faced with a frog ticked me off. I didn’t know what to do. Do I get back on the horse? no. Do I start something new? I searched through my Ravelry queue. I played with my stash of yarn and fiber. I ordered new yarn. Yeah. Ordered new yarn…. and finally settled on working on Liesl in 3 ply handspun Corriepaca. It isn’t a new project. I had cast on months ago and abandoned it for some reason. It’s a quick knit and I really just want a new sweater.

But I want a new sweater so bad that I cast on for more….I have a reason. Liesl is in bulky yarn and bulky knitting hurts my hands so I can’t work on it for any length of time so I have to do something else. Shush. I know I have other projects….I want a new one.
This Bacon red is a 2 ply rustic handspun that I’m making a holey top down sweater.

This one is a 2 ply Falkland that will be turned into an Indian Summer Shrug I took the picture last night while it was light out before the cast ons to ensure that I actually got a photo.

It’s not all cast ons though. I actually finished something. I finished my cowl to match my gloves. I used every last bit. All the way down to just 6 inches. It’s perfect and I’ll be so styling this winter with matching accessories. Matching! It’s a first.

When it rains it pours.
I’ve had the flu this week. Tuesday… I was knocked out at work. Luckily no one had been there yet and I just left. And I haven’t been back since though I am upright and doing stuff today. It’s one of those sicknesses that you can’t get much knitting done. A little computer time and a little TV time and I’m not sure I was very coherent during much of it at all.
I did do a few rows on things here there. Nothing impressive….
The Naughty Rhinebeck Sweater (if it gets done in time)

I’m moving and mostly coherent today. I hope to be back at the shop tomorrow to get packages out the door. Sorry for the delays folks.
