Pj’s were finished on time! With about an hour to spare even. I had to do it using every sneaky bone in my body. I was able to finish up Baby Boogie’s late at night while she was sleeping but forgot to take photos. So those I had to do sneakily while she was in the other room waiting just outside the door. Hence the wrapping paper under the Pj’s…
Satin ones:

And flannel ones:

Let me tell you something about that Satin stuff. It’s lovely shiney smooth stuff with flannel back so it’s warm. Kids love it. Don’t buy it. It’s a pain in the butt to work with and once you make it once, the kids will want it again and again. Well….maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t wait to make the PJ’s until last minute and was rushing. I just don’t seem to ever make PJ’s unless I’m under some kind of rush. I wonder if I started the PJ’s now for next year if I’d actually finish them before “last minute” or if they’d even fit.
9 going on 20 got her PJs on time as well. Her’s were the ones that were being finished at the very last minute.
Flannel:

And Satin:

There is something about making tiny doll clothing that is pleasing and tedious all at once. I know I will soon be making a ton. The girls are a little distressed that each doll has 2 sets of PJ’s but only one set of day clothes. The Day clothes they came with are too fancy and they need more play clothes. But they’ve spent the last couple of days in PJ’s so I don’t see the problem.

Notice the hat on her head. I was able to finish off the Beret for less stealing. I was not able to finish anything else. I have some travel coming up so I’m hoping I’ll get to finish some of my knitting then.
I’ve been living in Novelty land lately. At least with the spinning. Let’s take a photographic journey through what’s been going through my orifice….

Plain ole thick and thin yarn - the yellow is “Walking on the Sun” on Merino Silk and the other is “Acadia” (Spunky Club) on Finn.

And

Coiled yarns. One more puffy and loose. The other tight. Both are Sumac on Wool Blend over a core of Yellow Crochet cotton.

Thick and thin BFL “Hidden” handspun plied with brown commercial eyelash yarn. Weirdly fluffy and soft and crazy.

Hi-lo yarn. All Corriedale - One ply is thick and thin white, the other is an all thin reject colorway.

100% Wensleydale - Boucle - Blue Moon
Last but not least a yarn that was inspired by Sarah Anderson at SOAR:

Beaded Eyelash yarn. That’s right. This stuff is so funky Cool.

You know I like the odd. Well, if you’ve been here any length of time you know that. Especially if you’ve met me in real life. So here is a list of some great “oddities”. Some might make you think “ew”, some “why” and others might be the perfect gift.
First, an Odd gift list made by someone that really loves the oddities. There are some great ideas on there and some that you may even be able to DIY

First, the business….I have a new pattern out:

It’s available at The Knitting Experience
I should be knitting but I’m really stuck on felting right now. I’ve had a stock of silk scarves for a while and I love dyeing them. I kept meaning to get to the nuno part of the scarf love and finally have. I made a green one for me:

And a Diesel one for Lesley

I also made a lattice one just because it was there:

It’s not exactly warm but it’s soft and pretty cool.
My other project of late is making swatchy samples of fibers for the shop. Which just means I fall for another fiber and add to the stash. First I did a quick spin/swatch of the Eastport fiber in the shop….wool and alpaca roving…..yes, it’s as lovely as it sounds.

Which made me buy from myself 2 sweaters worth in these colors:

Then I did a swatch in Coopworth roving:

I already have this sweater designed in my head. Part of me wants to set everything else aside and do this now.
I have a feeling the kid’s sweaters won’t be done for Xmas but I will have something knit in their stockings and I will get the PJ’s done. Maybe I’ll make them wet felted slippers….after I finish the wet felted gauntlets/mitts I’m working on…
Or maybe I should have said -upcycled-. Upcycling is the new word for recycling an unloved item into something fabulous. If you want to see upcycling at it’s finest, I suggest you run right over to Etsy. Here’s a few of my favorites featuring upcycling:
