The letter Q is brought to you today by the word QUIET!

Quiet is something we don’t see around here very much. Husbeast would remind me that it might be partially my fault. If the girls and dog aren’t creating noise pollution, I make sure it still happens. And if no one but me is around (which is often rare) I talk to myself. Though I like the idea of quiet.

I decided to convey that in my love of storm clouds. As in, “the quiet before the storm.”
We’ve had a lot of storms lately so I was able to take 2 new photos.
One from my home:

O is for Orange.
That is the one thing that kept popping in my head when I was thinking of O. Orange. mmm something else. Nope, Orange. So what embodies orange to me. I look around and there truly is a lot of Orange in my life. Then my eyes rest on my Fiskars.

I have a few different brands of scissors. I thought, the best pair couldn’t possibly be the ones I started out my scissor collection with….can it? I truly love my large Fiskars and I keep having them sharpened so I can keep them. O is for my lovely orange Fiskars.

N is for Nine….
At least that’s what I planned on posting back when N was the letter of the week. I am woefully behind and Nine was the number of wheels I had….Had. Now I’m up to ten so N for nine seems a little ridiculous….Now we’re going to go with N for New……

The number Nine wheel is New to me though it’s not a New wheel:

But there is also a new spindle in my life as of today:
new_ethanjacob
I have sold many of these Ethan Jacobs from Greensleeves spindles, never to have bought one for myself. Well, this last batch that came in today was gasp worthy.  Not that they aren’t all amazing batches but something about this batch sent me over the edge. I had set aside 8 spindles that took my breath away and then this one came out of the packaging…. Mine. That fiber behind it is an illegal Abby Batt 40% Cashmere 40% Silk and 20% super fine merino.

There are also N for new projects on the needles. New projects with yarn that has been marinating for a while. The first up is the Romney shawl I’ve had designed and wanting to do for a long time. I cast on 2 times unsuccessfully with patterns that were different than the one I had originally written only to go back to the original. It’s nothing majorly fancy but I do love it so.

And the stripes are an unexpected bonus.

I also wanted a simple project that would fill the times when I can’t do anything remotely complicated. Most of the time cables are nothing complicated but these days, a purl pattern might be considered complicated.
cowlthingy
There are a bunch of cowl patterns going around Ravelry right now. None of them were just right so this is the one I’m doing. A little design at the top and bottom while the majority of it will be stockinette round and round and round. It’s working out well since by the time I can sit and knit at night, I’m too stupidified to work on anything that takes mind power.  Needle in, scoop yarn, stitch off the needle….rinse and repeat. I can do that.

M is for the Meme.
I was trying to come up with an appropriate M but the Meme seems to fit. I’ve been journaling online for close to 7 years. And knit blogging will be 5 years. It doesn’t seem possible but it is. In all that time the thing that I found annoying and joyful at the same time is the Meme. Appropriately I was tagged this week by an easy and joyful Meme by Marta.

1. Where was I 10 years go.
I had just gotten out of a longish relationship (long for me anyway) and hadn’t yet met the husbeast. I was potting full time and enjoying my summer.

2. 5 things on today’s to-do list
Ship boxes
Place an order for wool
Start to dye July’s club
Work on Batts
Go to the farmstand

3.Snacks I enjoy
Nuts. Fruit. Hummus. Popcorn. Kale Smoothies.
Though I generally try not to snack much.

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire.
Spin and knit and travel. Oh, and build an addition onto the house for more wheels and looms. And then fly in the “Spunky Club” to have a party. Because the members have been an unending source of entertainment and joy.

5. Places I have lived.
Maine, Massachusetts and California. Nothing exciting but I have lived where I’ve wanted to. And the truth is, there is no place like home.

6. Jobs I have had.
Waitress, Line cook, waitress, Bar tender, waitress, Pet shop, Temp Agency (secretary at a law firm and receptionist at some office I don’t even remember), Sales and then senior sales representative for a Power supply manufacturer, Hotline advocate, Potter, Hotline advocate, to where I am now…. What would my job be described as now. Fiber enabler? Enthusiast? Entrepreneur? haha. I like the sounds of Entrepreneur. Makes it all sound like I’m really professional.

7. Who would I like to know more about.
All of you. If you read this consider yourself tagged or not. Just let me know in a comment if you decide to do it.
