We’re halfway through the stashdown. I’ve been through a fair amount of fiber and cleaned up a few bobbins that just needed a plying.
Here’s the stats:
7lbs of wool spun
5 bobbins cleared of old projects for an additional 8 ounces of fiber plied.
wow. I think I’ve only added 2 lbs to the stash in the past month. I’m trying to spin more frequently and take care of clubs faster. I belong to 3 and add up fast. I need to just plain spin more.
Let’s take a peek at what we accomplished this past week:
2 skeins of that Wool Linen were plied off.

For a total of 440 yards.
Old project plied off the bobbins:

4 ounces of BFL in light fingering weight - each skein is about 2 ounces, 220 yards.
I finished one skein of BFL singles

about 440 yards.
I rounded out the week with some Souther Cross Fiber and Thick and thin singles.
12 ounces of “Sprout” in Polwarth:

and yesterday I did 8 ounces of the current club “Molten”:

Which all of that will go nicely with a stashed yarn that I made last year. I see a very loud sweater coming my way:

Here I am to report the work of week 3….it was weak. Really weak. I only had a chance to spin 2 days out of the 7. I managed to get a lot done but it was still not a whole lot of spinning time. This week may prove to be a challenge too as club should be going out in the next couple of days.
Early in the week my spinning consisted of watching Dexter and churning out 2 pounds of Vineyard.

1080 yards of thick and thin glorious poofy singles. Love them! I want to knit a sweater right now but I probably wouldn’t wear it til fall anyway so I’m putting this sweater on the back burner and working on yarns to make sweater for the more current weather situation.
Thin BFL singles

That may become something like a “Featherweight Sweater” or something of my own design. Something thin none the less.
Linen Wool

I did another bobbin of this. Theoretically I could ply the 2 bobbins I have and start the sweater. Or at least swatch for it. Though, I have 4 or 5 lacy summer sweaters in my head and I need to sort through which one gets which yarn and I’ll get moving right on that. Well….and I have to finish the current sweater pattern test knitting.
2nd week of stashdown has been completed and I managed to continue to spin it down. Here’s what I finished last week:

Equinox from Souther Cross Fibres - Merino - Thick and Thin singles - about 230 yards total

Pie from Spunky Eclectic - Merino - Thick and Thin Singles. - about 105 yards

Sensing a theme with the thick and thin singles?
Twilight from Spunky - Organic Merino - about 360 yards in 3 skeins
Raven from Enchanted Knoll - Super Merino with Sari and sparkle.
It’s going to make a gorgeous cropped sweater
But I didn’t do all Singles.

Burning Bush (light version) - from Spunky - Corriepaca - 2 ply chunky –this was specifically dyed and spun to match a commercial yarn. it’s going to finish the sweater I’m working on now.
Next up…..More singles. Stay tuned. I have a sweaters worth of Vineyard that I’m hoping to finish this week.
This is the first report of the great stash down happening in the Boogie household. Here’s the stats:
1lb 8 ounces of singles spun
1lb 8 ounces of singles plied together
6 skeins of yarn formed
Stashdown bins have increased in size by several pounds.
The first 8 ounces completed were a Hello Yarn club from 2009 - Patchwork

I have no clue what the yardage is. All I know is that I have 2 poofy squooshy skeins of lovely thick and thin 2ply Bulky goodness.
Next up was Southern Cross Fibres Grevillea (club) and Boogie Wonderland.

I had 8 ounces of each and decided, plied together that I’d get the greener look that I wanted with blips of pink. I have about 600 yards of this heavy worsted 2 ply. I wasn’t exactly consistent in spinning it but I’m still going to use it for a sweater. I have a few yards of just Boogie Wonderland. I’m trying to decide what I want for another coordinating color so I’ll have enough for a long sleeve sweater or just stick to a shorter sleeved version.
Up next….
I have no idea. We’ll see what I pull out of the basket of goodness.
I’m almost hitting max capacity on my level of fiber and I need to stop overflowing. But I don’t want to stop the shopping! What is a girl to do? I’ll tell you what….SPIN. Here’s what I’m imposing doing for myself:
The first weekend of May is Maryland Sheep and Wool. I probably won’t be going but that’s the first major sheep and wool show of the year. That’s my deadline. I’m starting now. I pulled out a couple of bins full of handpaints in various small lots that I need to spin. Maybe I’ll get more done, but I’d like to get at least one of the bigger bins full done.
Then I can go shopping!
Here’s the biggest box of fiber I pulled out:

Represented there is Southern Cross, Hello Yarn, Amy’s Babies and Spunky Eclectic
Here’s the 2nd bin I started to put the fiber in that didn’t fit in the first bin:

Represented there is Spunky Eclectic, Enchanted Knoll, Spirit-Trail Fiberworks
And in the new mighty sized rice basket in the living room:

Fibers I’m actively working on now include Spunky Eclectic, Enchanted Knoll, Southern Cross, Hello Yarn
Get ready to see a pile of yarn posted here and in Flickr.
