The Doffer/Cleaner brush is used to clean the large drum after you have removed the batt. It looks similar to a "Flicker" but with different points. Our Doffers are 2" wide and 4 " long. The pads have " long points spaced 72 per square inch. Use the center portion of the Doffer brush to contact the curve of the large drum. Starting at the seam, swipe the Doffer brush down the drum in the same direction as the teeth on the drum. Continue across the width of the drum. Slowly rotate the drum backwards as you use the brush to clean the entire drum.

This is a multi-purpose tool that will become indispensible to both weavers and Spinners. Sporting 1/2 inch and 1 inch measures for gauging wraps per inch for spinners and a sett gauge for weavers. Not to mention that it has a concave center and 2 holes to be a diz. When this pad is clamped or screwed to a table or bench it allows the comber to keep one comb secure and stationary in the upright position. Works with all Valkyrie combs. Clamps are not included.

Louet Cotton Hand Cards

As you rub the wool on the board the ribbed surface accelerates the felting process.

Curved grooves allow soapy water to flow as you rub.

Try making a ball to get a feel for felting: Take a handful of carded wool, pour over it a mixture of hot water (as hot as you can handle) and detergent. Soap powder can be used instead of detergent, but dissolve the powder well in the hot water first. Rub the wet wool between you hands to form a ball, and continue squeezing and rubbing until you have a solid ball of felt. It is surprising how much wool goes into a small ball. Experiment with layers of different colors of wool. Completely cover the entire ball with each felted color, before adding the next layer. The ball can be cut to expose these layers. Rinse the ball in cold water, then hang out to dry.

Strauch says "By popular demand, we have now developed a motorized series of Finest drum carders. This includes both the singlewide and doublewide machines. In addition, both existing Strauch hand crank chain drive Finest models can be upgraded to the motorized version.

Being an engineer, I designed these machines to be truly unique in the marketplace and built with the same high standards as the hand crank models. They are "high tech" drum carders having both infinitely variable speed AND reversibility features. The "infinitely variable speed" feature (not just two or three speed settings) is a God-send when working with fine fibers like alpaca, merino and cashmere.

Our carders use very high quality, durable, electronically controlled motors that are made in the USA! All these machines have been extensively beta tested by some "heavy duty" fiber artists and they all have raved about the design, workmanship and durability.

The dimensions of these carders are the same as their manual counterparts."
